Friends of Pride
Which of the following cities is the host of the largest free Pride Festival in the United States? A. New York City You might be surprised to learn that the answer is C. Minneapolis / St. Paul The key word in the clue is ‘free’. The organizing committee for Twin Cities Pride struggles each year trying to provide the best festival possible without the need to charge admission. We also gamble with the weather on Pride Weekend. Some years our gambles pay off and we break even or make a small surplus – other years, we don’t. We have reached the point where we feel that we need to ask the community for additional financial support. In order to grow Twin Cities Pride into a strong and stable 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving our GLBT community, we are asking the community help us grow by making a charitable contribution. We are asking each and every one of our friends and supporters in the Twin Cites GLBT and allied community to consider making a free-will donation to Twin Cites Pride this year. We are making this request in the hopes that you might consider becoming one of the Friends of Pride. Your donations are 100% tax deductible! In exchange, we will make you a proud, card-carrying member of Friends of Pride. And if you make a donation before the start of this summer's Pride events on June 20, you will be among the elite that can claim to be a “Charter Member” of the Friends of Pride. We have established several levels of support and ask that you consider making a donation based upon your ability to contribute. The various levels are:
There are several ways that you can contribute – You can mail a check payable to ‘Twin Cities Pride ’ and send it to us at the following address – Attn: Friends of Pride (if paying by check please indicate "Friends of Pride" on the memo line)
Another way you can donate to Twin Cities Pride - If your employeer has a matching dollar charitable program, please consider making a contribution to Pride and naming Pride as the charity of your choice for your employer to match your gift. If your employer has an in-house charitable program of making a donation for every hour an employee volunteers their time, consider being a volunteer with Pride to do good work and to help us raise additional funding for Pride.
