2007 Pride Art Show

The Pride Art Show Opening Night Party was held on Friday, June 15, 2007, and an ongoing show will run through July 22.  The Opening Night Party featured entertainment, a brief program and refreshments.  Over 300 people joined us at the opening party, a new record for the Pride Art Show

This year's Art Show takes place at The Soap Factory in Minneapolis at 520 SE 2nd Street through July 22.

The art show features works by GLBT artists and/or those with GLBT themes.  Admission is free and open to all ages; donations accepted.

Call for Artists

Twin Cities Pride is seeking Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender (GLBT) artists or GLBT-themed art for the 2007 Pride Art Show to be held at The Soap Factory. A 501(c)3 non-profit, The Soap Factory provides 3000 sq ft of gallery space, and the freedom for artists to exhibit traditional painting, printing or photography along side sculpture, site-specific installation or video. The Art Show exhibit runs from June 15 through July 22, 2007.

All 2D work must be submitted framed and ready to hang. All video work must be exhibited on the artist’s own equipment. All installation/sculpture is the responsibility of the artist; The Soap Factory is not able to supply resources to realize unbuilt sculptures or installations. The Soap Factory and GLBT Pride/Twin cities will provide the gallery space for the exhibition of your work and can also provide technical installation assistance. GLBT Pride/Twin Cities will advertise the Art Show on the Pride website, provide publicity, exhibition invitations, mailings and Opening Night Party. We do not provide insurance coverage for work exhibited at The Soap Factory and all work is shown at the artist’s own risk. For all artwork sold at the Art Show, Artist will receive 50% of selling/list price.

  • Submissions will be selected May 27, 2007
  • Artists selected for the Art Show will be notified May 28-29, 2007 via email or telephone
  • Selected art must be dropped off at the Gallery ready to hang June 10-11, 2007
  • Art pick up will be July 23-24, 2007
  • We will be unable to tell you the status of your submission without a valid email address or telephone number

What to send:
No more than 10 labeled 35mm slides of your work, with accompanying slide list.
Resume or artist statement, if applicable.
Video can be submitted on VHS or DVD.
We do accept applications on CD. Images must be MAC compatible (jpeg, TIFF, PDF are acceptable) and not more than 1500x2100 ppi. ALL CD SUBMISSIONS MUST be accompanied by color print of no more than ten of the digital images, or they will not be reviewed.
