SUMMARY:Gender Justice Brunch
DESCRIPTION:December 8\, 2024\n11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.\nThe Depot Minneapolis\nThe Gender Justice Brunch is your time to socialize\, network\, celebrate and learn about a topic that affects our reproductive rights community. \nWith social games\, mission-aligned activities\, music by DJ Tricky Miki\, a performance by Prairie Fire Choir\, brunch drinks and food\, and a lively discussion\, this event is not to be missed. \nGretchen Sisson\, PhD\, and Gender Justice Board Member\, Joy Parker will engage in a conversation: Exploring Adoption’s Place in Reproductive Justice: Indian Child Welfare Act and Domestic Adoption in the Dobbs Era. \nWith the US Supreme Court decisions in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization revoking federal protections for abortion and Brackeen v. Haaland upholding the Indian Child Welfare Act\, we are in a political moment in which adoption is\, increasingly\, being revealed as an institution devoted to separating families and policing parenthood under the guise of feel-good family-building.
