Join us for SOY’s 11th Annual New Year!
This year we celebrate and remember Queer Hmong and Southeast Asian history as the larger Hmong community reaches its 40th year in the United States as refugees from the Secret War in Laos. The SOY New Year will include fun and creative ways for attendees to watch, listen, and participate in creating our own Hmong and Southeast Asian Queerstory.

We’re excited to announce that the University of Minnesota Twin Cities GLBTA Programs Office is hosting the
first annual Queer People of Color Conference (QPOCC).
For and by QPOC communities in the Upper Midwest, this first annual QPOCC seeks to empower marginalized
communities through education, advocacy, and community building. The mission is to organize an annual
traveling Midwest conference for LGBTQ People of Color by creating a create a sustainable platform for QPOC
voices, experiences and stories.
The Upper Midwest includes cities and regions in: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota South Dakota and
The vision for this conference will be to build capacity for QPOC through connecting and strengthening ties. By
sharing knowledge, best practices and education through discussions, tools learned from this conference will
assist and aid QPOC to better navigate and bring excellence to the communities where we work, live and learn.
