🧵 Community Maker Day & Donation Drive
Supporting Twin Cities Pride Community Aid
With everything happening in our community right now, I’m opening up the shop as a safe space to gather and do something tangible to help. We are hosting a day of making and a donation drive to get essential supplies to our neighbors.
When & Where
• Maker Day: Saturday, Jan 31st | 10 AM – 4 PM
• Donation Drop-offs: Wednesday, Jan 28th (11 AM – 5 PM) or Saturday, Jan 31st (10 AM – 4 PM)
• Location: Fuzzbutt Boutique 303 21st St Suite 160, Newport, MN 55055
What We’re Doing
We are making blankets, mittens, and hats out of fleece, flannel, and yarn. I have the materials and the space. I just need your hands to help.
• No experience needed: We’ll be doing both sewn and “no-sew” tie blankets.
• Supplies: I have 4 sewing stations and plenty of fabric. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine, crochet hooks, or knitting needles.
• Seating: I have 16 chairs plus sewing stations. Please bring a lawn chair if you can, just in case we have a big turnout!
Food & Comfort
I’ll be serving Pulled Pork and Mac & Cheese. If you’d like to bring a dish or snack to share, feel free, but please just come as you are. I have a fridge, microwave, and air fryer on-site.
The Donation Drive
I’ll be using the shop van to drive all items to the Pride Cultural Arts Center on Monday. Per their current needs, we are collecting:
• Household Items: Dish soap, sponges, toilet paper, paper towels.
• Personal Care: Soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry soap.
• Family & Pets: Diapers, baby wipes, pet food, and treats.
• Warmth: Blankets (we will also be making these!).
Why Newport? I want to provide a local, comfortable spot for the South and East Metro to contribute. If you want to help but don’t want to drive into the city right now, drop your donations here and I’ll handle the delivery to Harmon Pl for you.
Let’s turn this heavy week into something warm. See you Saturday! 🩷
