Join us for a 90-minute Hatha Yoga workshop led by Alexis Ray. With guided breath (pranayama), a dharma talk, yoga postures (asanas), and meditation, Hatha Yoga emphasizes alignment, stability, and grounding in each pose with a slower and deliberate pace. You will learn a technique to build awareness and embodiment with diaphragmatic breathing. The dharma talk will touch on the unique challenge and importance of movement practice for trans/GNC people. The bulk of the time will be spent with a series of postures focused on building a strong base and working towards balancing poses. The workshop will close with yoga for sleep (yoga Nidra) as a body scan meditation.
All are welcome to this trans-centered space.
TransFabulous and TransPractical are each a series of workshops led by artists and educators who identify as transgender (trans) or gender non-conforming (GNC) – TransFabulous provides an outlet through artistic creation while TransPractical addresses applied aspects of the trans/GNC experience.
