This exhibition is not curated in the traditional sense. Instead we are opening our gallery walls for queer artists to share what feels most present and vital right now; through painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, textile work, or wearable art. Whether rooted in protest, joy, grief, intimacy, or self-expression, we welcome bold visual storytelling and authentic perspectives.
Not every piece needs to be rainbows and resistance, but they certainly can be. We believe Present Tense will offer a powerful snapshot of what it means to live, create, and persist as a queer person in Minnesota in 2025.
We are opening our walls to the LGBTQIA+ community, literally! Artists are invited to bring their own work in the gallery during art drop off (May 26th 4pm- 8pm and Tuesday May 27th 12pm-4pm ). We will provide the gallery walls and the Gamut crew will hang the art. This is a first come, first served opportunity. Once the walls are full, we’ll stop accepting additional pieces, so early drop-off is encouraged.
We would be honored if you would share this opportunity with artists in your community.
